FLAGSHIP DEVELOPMENT COMPLETED
Two Castles Housing Association has completed its flagship development, King Edward’s Fauld, at the gateway to the Solway Coast, providing much needed affordable homes in the beautiful parish of Burgh-by-Sands.
Three miles outside of Carlisle, the eight energy efficient homes (consisting of two and three bedroom bungalows and houses) are available for equity share purchase or rent.
Funded by the Regional Housing Board’s Innovation Fund and built by local contractors using local resources, the homes have already contributed to the wider economic viability of the area.
Each home was built using modern methods of construction – namely, a panellised system called Kingspan Tek which uses two skins of OSB (Orientated Strand Board) with insulation filling, which is very strong and energy efficient.
John Hay, Development Director at Two Castles, said: “We’re thrilled to have completed this very important project. The provision of affordable homes is much needed in the area because of high demand for homes and extremely high property prices.
“King Edward’s Fauld looks great – we can’t wait for the residents to move in over the next few weeks and we’re sure they will be very happy in their new homes.”
Two Castles won a funding competition against 30 other bids to win the right to build and develop at the site.
