AFFORDABLE HOMES IN WAKEFIELD
Two Castles Housing Association has once again teamed up with Assettrust Housing to manage 52 affordable homes at Woodlands, Wakefield.
Two Castles owns and manages over 3,300 affordable homes across the North of England, but Woodlands is the first development that the association will be managing in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
In addition to Two Castles, Woodlands represents a partnership involving Acorn Homes and Wakefield MDC – the latter providing nominations from its waiting list for shared ownership homes.
Assettrust Housing (AHL), the owner of Woodlands, is a privately owned company investing in affordable housing for both rent or – under shared ownership agreements – purchase. It does this without the use of Government grant or public money – enabling first time buyers and others the opportunity to buy a share in their own homes.
Last year AHL named Two Castles as its preferred partner in the North, and Woodlands is the second development that Two Castles is managing for them, with Pall Mall House in Manchester, being the first.
Stephanie Murphy, chief executive of Two Castles Housing Association, said: “This is a very exciting development for us, and we are thrilled to be once again working in partnership with Assettrust Housing in what is a new geographical area for us.
“We are committed to the provision of affordable homes in both urban and rural areas for the benefit of those people who would otherwise be priced out of the market, and we are looking forward to be able to making more affordable homes available throughout the Yorkshire area.”
Viv Rosser, partnership and development director of Assettrust Housing, said: “Assettrust Housing does not manage the homes it provides directly, but commissions management services from the very best housing associations across the country.
“In the North, Two Castles is our management partner and we are delighted that the association has agreed to work in partnership with us. The Woodlands scheme in Wakefield is the second of the schemes that we have worked on together and we look forward to more successes together in the near future.”
