NEW HEADS ACROSS THE BOARD
Two Castles Housing Association has announced the election of new chairmen for four of its committees in its annual board meeting.

As a non-profit making organisation, Two Castles is governed by a board. The chairmen of the four committees - North West Regional Committee, North East Regional Committee, Audit Committee and Finance Committee - are chosen every year, by the board, from ‘shareholding members’ of the association.

Stephanie Murphy, Two Castles’ chief executive, said: “The board agree the post of chairman annually, but a chairman can hold his or her post for a maximum term of three years before having to step down. All of our new chairmen have previously chaired other committees in the past, as well as sitting on the board, and we are delighted to retain their experience and involvement with the association.”

Previously the chair of the Audit Committee, Ray Bloxham now takes the post of chairman of the North West Regional Committee.

Ray has over 25 years experience with local authorities and housing associations and has always had an interest in housing issues, having worked as operations director for Methodist Homes where his duties included working with residential and nursing homes.

Eddie Birkett, former chairman of the North East Regional Committee, has now become chairman of the Finance Committee.

Eddie, who has served on the Finance Committee for the last three years, has a wealth of industry experience having previously worked as director of customer services at Wansbeck District Council.

Peter Glasspool, an insurance broker with almost 25 years involvement with Two Castles, enjoyed his recent three year term as chairman of the board, and is now serving as North East Regional Committee chairman. He was formerly a member of Northumberland County Council and the London Borough of Merton.

Finally George Parr, who joined Two Castles Housing Association almost 30 years ago, has been appointed chairman of the Audit Committee.

George also serves on the North East Regional Committee but as Audit chairman his key responsibility is to independently confirm to the board that the association is maintaining effective internal controls across all its work.
