TWO CASTLES KEEPING KIDS SAFE

Two Castles Housing Association has donated to the Kidsafe Project for the third year in a row, this time by providing 30 educational board games to Belah Primary School in Carlisle.

The Kidsafe Project, based in Cumbria, aims to educate younger children on the dangers of bullying, under-age misuse of alcohol and cigarettes, vandalism, playing in unsafe locations and ‘stranger danger’.

Two Castles, with its head office in Carlisle, nominated Belah Primary School to receive this year’s donation because many of the children who attend the school live on the nearby Two Castles family housing developments at Knowefield. The board games donated are used as an educational but fun method of warning children of some of the most common dangers they can face today.

Two Castles’ Chief Executive, Stephanie Murphy, said: “We were approached by Kidsafe three years ago and have been making contributions to the project from then onwards using our specifically allocated donations budget. It’s important for us to support the local community and the Kidsafe charity in particular, as it provides invaluable advice for the children in our area.”

Two Castles derives its name from the two castles in Carlisle and Newcastle. The organisation exists to provide and manage good quality housing and targets housing that cannot compete effectively in the private housing market. It is a non-profit making, mutual society which is governed by its members.

The association now owns and manages over 3,300 properties and provides high quality and affordable homes ranging from rented property for families, the elderly and single people, to shared equity starter homes and leasehold schemes. It covers a wide geographic area stretching from Berwick down to North Yorkshire in the North East and from Carlisle to Manchester in the North West.
