John and Veronica McNee: Old Hall, Egremont

The desire to stay close to their daughter and grandchild brought John and Veronica McNee to their new Two Castles Housing Association property in Egremont.
The couple moved into a new two bedroom house, adjacent to the renovated Old Hall, a 150 year old listed building, which was converted into modern affordable housing by the Association.
The family had previously lived in Frizington with their daughter Claire Brown, who is a Two Castles’ resident, alongside her mother-in-law Lynne Brown.
Veronica said: “We were delighted to move into our new house, which would not have been possible without the help of Two Castles. We previously lived with our daughter, son-in-law and grandchild and, although it was fantastic spending time with our family, five of us living in a two-bedroom house was not practical in the long term.
“Our new home is situated in the perfect location. Not only is it in a peaceful area, but we can easily catch the bus to visit our daughter. We also enjoy living next to the renovated Old Hall and it’s great to see this building conserved in a way that is of such benefit to local people.”
