Two Castles residents raise funds for Children’s Charity
Castle Close residents raise money for NSPCC
Two Castles Housing Association staff and residents at Castle Close in Whickham are organising a series of events to raise funds for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).
Castle Close provides sheltered housing, with around 68 residents living at the scheme. Its resident manager, Joan O’Neill, recently joined forces with the NSPCC to organise a Strawberry Tea for residents and their families, helping to raise £485 for the charity with a raffle, tombola, quizzes and craft stalls.
The event follows on from a High Tea which was held at Castle Close in the spring, raising £444 for the NSPCC. Joan is also currently working with residents to organise a Soup and Pud event which will take place in the winter to raise further funds for the children’s charity.
Dave Armstrong, housing services director at Two Castles Housing Association, said: “Joan is an inspirational member of our team who has worked closely with Two Castles’ residents to raise money for this worthwhile charity. It is great to see the residents of Castle Close get involved in this way to do their bit and raise money for the NSPCC by helping to organise these events.”
Lilian Sillars, treasurer for the Whickham branch of the NSPCC, said: “I’ve really enjoyed working with Joan and the residents at Castle Close to organise these events and it has been a pleasure to see everyone pull together to raise these funds for the NSPCC. This is a fantastic way of raising money for the charity and I’d like to thank the staff and residents at Castle Close for all of their support.”
