Two Castles residents hold community event to Help the Heroes
Two Castles Housing Association staff and residents at Castle Close in Whickham have raised £1060 for Help for Heroes.
Resident manager, Joan O’Neill, organised a community coffee morning to help raise money for the injured soldiers fund, which is part of Help for Heroes, a charity which provides support to the UK’s wounded servicemen and women. Castle Close is one of the Association’s sheltered accommodation schemes and is home to 68 residents.
The coffee morning included a raffle, tombola, cake stand and craft stalls and was attended by residents with their family and friends and other members of the local community. Two Castles’ residents were actively involved on the day by working on stalls, serving teas and coffees and selling raffle tickets.
Dave Armstrong, housing services director at Two Castles Housing Association, said: “It is great to see our residents working closely together to help raise money for this worthwhile charity. Two Castles has its heart in local communities and I am delighted to see our residents contributing to this worthwhile charity.”
