South Lakeland family open the door to a new home
The Brown family in their new home
A Milnthorpe mother of two has found her perfect family home in South Lakeland, thanks to Two Castles Housing Association.
Suzy Brown and her two daughters, six year old Tiana and two year old Taya, now live in a three bedroom house at Harmony Hill in Milnthorpe - a new development of modern, high quality, affordable homes from Two Castles Housing Association. The Brown family are now located within walking distance of the local school and will benefit from the extra space as they grow.
Suzy said: “We were delighted to move into our new house, which would not have been possible without Two Castles.
“Housing in the Lakeland area is particularly expensive and our previous property was a two bedroom flat that was unsuitable for two growing children. I was born in Kendal and have lived in the local area for most of my life, so wanted to remain close to my friends. We are all really pleased with our new home as the girls each have a bedroom of their own and a garden where they can play. This is a family home for life as my daughters can grow up here.”
Harmony Hill is a development of ten, high quality, affordable properties available for rent, including four, two bedroom flats, four, two bedroom houses and two, three bedroom houses. Two Castles Housing Association has been working in partnership with South Lakeland District Council on the development.
Rob Brittain, property services director of Two Castles Housing Association, said: “There is a high demand for affordable housing in South Lakeland where many people are being forced to move out of the area due to high prices in the marketplace –more than ten times the average salary - and the demand for second or holiday homes. Two Castles is committed to providing high quality homes and we are delighted to see people like the Brown family benefiting from the new development at Harmony Hill.”
